Hypochlorous Solution is a pH neutral (pH 5-7) solution which is a powerful oxidant and antimicrobial. It is also called HOCl. HOCl is electrically neutral, which makes it easily penetrate bacterial cell walls and viral protein coats and envelopes to destroy them. Hypochlorous solution oxidizes and destroys the viral and bacterial DNA, RNA, and proteins which are necessary for bacterial and viral survival and replication.
When food grade salt is mixed with water in a special chamber and Direct Current (DC) is passed through the same, the following reactions take place:
NaCl + H2O= NaOH + Cl2
NaoH + Cl2 = NaOCl + H
NaOCl + H2O = HOCl + NaCl
HOCl (Hypochlorous Solution) thus produced is electrically neutral and a highly potent sanitizer.
